I sat beneath the Storytelling Tree
underneath a black blanket of sky.
Four months after
pain,
loss,
distrust,
and heartbreak,
I finally allow myself to look up at the stars.
Within this dark ominous covering,
I notice that the saffron and white dots are like pieces
of love and art.
Wondering,
dreaming,
and hoping
for affection and comfort,
I gaze at the twinkling lights
that float above the ground.
I desire to fly so far,
in the sky of stars,
understanding that the universe will someday be ours.
So underneath this storytelling tree,
I urge myself and others with deep seeded scars
to look up at the stars
and notice that they are like pieces of love and art.
