On Monday, she got the call that they were being shut down.

Dana Georges worked at a private investigators office. That office was now being shut down because they got too close to the answer about a missing persons case. The missing person was her sister Kristine Georges. Her sister had been missing for 11 years now and they were at a dead end. When Dana finally got hired for a job at the private investigators office she knew she could use her resources to try to find Kristine. Everyone else thinks her sister is dead but she doesn’t. She knows deep down her sister is still out there and alive waiting to be found.

Kristine was 8 when she went missing and she would be 19 now. Dana is 4 years older than Kristine and up until she went missing they were inseparable. Growing up they never knew who their grandparents were. Their grandparents were not in contact with the family. Her mom never talked about their grandparents and all they ever knew about them is that they lived in a different town and didn’t talk to them.

As soon as Dana graduated high school she started looking for private investigator jobs. She knew that with the right resources she could find her sister. When her sister went missing all they knew was that she was last seen getting out of school in early spring. She was seen getting into a black SUV on a security camera and that was the last time anyone had seen her. Normally her mom would pick them up from school but she couldn’t that day and she was supposed to ride the bus home instead. The cops searched the license plate number but it didn’t attach to any car and it didn’t even show up in the system when they looked for it. So then they searched for the car model and they found one person it could’ve belonged to but he had an alibi and was at work with his car that day, so it couldn’t have been him or his car. So the car was a lost cause and when they were interviewing witnesses who saw her getting in the car nobody could give them answers because none of them were paying attention to the person driving the car. After weeks of looking the police department gave up.

When Dana got the chance to investigate her sister’s case she started with the car, and she watched the footage over and over again to try to find anything that might make the car stand out. She zoomed in and noticed the car had a sticker on the back right side window for a small store a couple towns away in the middle of nowhere. She tracked down the town the store was in and she decided to look at the junk yard because if a kidnapper took someone and wanted to get rid of a car they would probably leave it at a junk yard. She found the car and it had no plates and it had been sitting there for a while. She found a piece of folded paper on the floor of the passenger seat. When she unfolded the paper she noticed something fall out. It was a picture of Kristine and on the paper there was the name of the school she went to and the name “Kristine Georges”. It wasn’t just a random kidnapping; her sister was targeted. Dana looked through the car some more and found an envelope addressed to an Archibald Georges. She immediately noticed they had the same last name and started looking into it. She couldn’t ask her parents because she didn’t want them to know she was looking into her sister’s case. Instead she looked him up and one of the first things that came up was a facebook account and so she scrolled through it because it could be him. When she scrolled through further she ended up finding a post he had made of an old family photo and noticed the girl in it looked a lot like a younger version of her mom.

She pushed herself to realize that it didn’t matter if her mom found out because it could get her closer to finding her sister. Later that night she decided to ask her mom about him even though she didn’t want her to know she was looking into the case. She called her mom and with a shaky voice she told her that’s her grandparents. Her mom went on to explain how their grandparents were always crazy and wanted control ever since Dana was born so they had to cut them out of their lives. Dana immediately knew she had to look into them and questioned that they might be involved. She looked her grandparents names up and ended up finding their address and their house ended up being in the exact town the sticker she saw on the car was from and the town where she found the car. She called the owner of the junkyard and asked if anybody knew who brought the car in and they said they didn’t know.

The next week she went into work and as soon as she walked in she was told they received a call that said their business was going to be shut down and the call never gave a reason or any information about why they were being shut down. Her stomach dropped and she had a feeling that this was her fault and it could be related to her looking into her sister’s missing person case after all these years. Since she felt this way she decided she needed to do something about it and this was something that she couldn’t handle by herself anymore.

The first thing she did was contact the lead detective on the case, Detective Ramsey. She informed him she found new information about her sister’s missing person case. And he said to come by the office and show him. When she got there she also told him about how the private investigators office she works at is being shut down and they don’t know why but she questioned that it has something to do with her looking into this case. They looked into the junkyard owner and noticed that he was actually friends with her grandparents. So now they really think the grandparents are involved.

Dana and Detective Ramsey decide to go down to her grandparents house and see if they’ll talk to them. When they get there they notice that there’s a kid’s playhouse and a swingset outside but they don’t question it because it could just be from when her mom was a kid. They knock on the door and her grandmother Linda answers the door. The detective asked, “Could I please speak with Archibald?” Linda replied with, “He’s not home right now but you’re more than welcome to come inside and speak with me instead.” When they walk into the house they notice there’s three places set at the table and it doesn’t seem like only two people live there. They also noticed unusual locks on the basement door and when he asked what was behind the door Linda got very defensive and kept saying, “It’s just for extra protection!” He immediately knew she was lying and they felt like they had enough information to get a warrant to search the house and the basement.

Two days later there are cop cars blaring their sirens and heading straight for the grandparents house. Detective Ramsey is the first one to get there and he notices the grandparents looking panicked in the window and he decides he can’t wait for more cops to arrive he needs to go make sure they don’t hide anything. He shows them the search warrant and heads straight for the basement and they try to stop him but they have no choice but to unlock the basement for him. He makes it down there and he finds a girl down there. She had long brown hair that looked like it hadn’t been cut in forever and the basement had concrete walls and so much stuff in it he could barely see her at first. Detective Ramsey asks, “What’s your name?” The unknown girl replies with “Kristine” With a look of relief washing over her face as she says it.

When the rest of the cops get there shortly after he finds Kristine they arrest the grandparents. The grandfather admitted to bribing the manager that had been struggling for money to shut Dana’s workplace down, which was quickly reversed after that information was given. After some questioning the grandparents both admitted to kidnapping Kristine because they were furious that they didn’t have any contact with their grandchildren and they wanted their family to be with them. They both got sent to jail while waiting for their court hearing with no bail and Kristine later reunited with her mom and Dana and they all have dinner together every weekend and are making up for lost time together.
