On Monday, she got the call that they were being shut down. This is the news that was spread around the company. The employees panicked as they may be without a job, fear filled the company making it difficult for the employees to stay on task. Shipping container sales started to plummet as the efficiency of the company went down hill due to the rumor. Management heard about this rumor and decided to call a meeting. The frightened employees arrived at the meeting room. The three managers at Containers co were already in the meeting room awaiting their arrival, they discussed the best way to break the news to the employees.
The boss that was going to break the news was preparing his speech, but then one of the employees yelled “Just tell us already! Are we out of a job or not?”. Then one of the managers sitting in the front snapped. Ricardo said “Do you really want to know the truth Andre? … We are shutting down due to your lack of safety while using our forklifts! … The truck drivers have been consistently reporting you for not watching where you are driving around the yard, eventually you are going to hit someone.”
Andre froze with his hand still in the air, face turning pale. The other employees stared at him with rage because he was the reason they were going to be shut down. The other two managers ran over to Ricardo and told him to stop. Andre left the room feeling embarrassed, yet also angry. He went to the service bay and grabbed his belongings, before he could leave the shop he was stopped by one of the mechanics and was told to get it together. Andre left the building, it was raining and the road was wet on his way home. That night he left with pure frustration and embarrassment.
Later that night Andre received a call from the owner of Containers Co. He apologized for Ricardo’s outrage and proceeded to tell him he would need to be recertified as a forklift driver and would have to start back as a beginner putting stickers on containers and greasing the latches. Andre agreed to those terms and returned the next day. For the next ten years Andre spent hours out in the direct sun and heat putting decals on containers and wishing that he had the ability to go back into his forklift with the air conditioning, where it once was a better job.

This is pretty unique to the rest as in this story the main character is at fault for getting “shut down”. very very interesting

I like this story a lot, I enjoy that the ending really wasn’t too severe, except for Andre, of course, and that the sensation of him being a scapegoat and a target of rage was merely temporary.
