Jerry gets more attention with negativity. Jerry spent his college football career off at the University of Alabama. He was a very successful wide receiver with the Crimson Tide, so good in fact that his coach said that he was one of the best receivers to ever attend the school. Jerry won accolades like the Fred Bilitnekoff award, First Team All-American, Citrus Bowl MVP, and most impressively, the National Championship. In college, Jerry was on top of the world.

Everyone loved Jerry in college. He was a hometown hero, the best player on the championship winning team, and was a great guy that everyone enjoyed being around. But when he was drafted to the NFL, everything changed for him. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos which was halfway across the country and he needed to leave his entire family behind. Jerry thought going to the NFL would be amazing, after all it was his dream since he was a child. What he didn’t think about was how the fanbase would treat him and the effect that leaving his family behind would have on him.

The transition to the NFL was not quite what Jerry was expecting. There was not as much hype around him anymore, and Denver wasn’t a very comfortable setting for him. The years Jerry spent in Denver had him feeling like he was anywhere but where he was supposed to be. He would often underperform due to his homesickness, leading him to be disliked by the Bronco fans. They would label him a “bust” or a “waste of a draft pick.”

Jerry had reached his lowest point. He didn’t have many good games for the remainder of his time with the Broncos. But one October morning. ESPN reported on Jerry’s TV. “Traded to the Cleveland Browns.” Jerry saw this as a fresh start. After he played a few good games with Cleveland he expected to get notice and praise from the fans, but they seemed to not even recognize it. After one bad game, the fans started ripping on Jerry, titling him as the worst wide receiver in the league. Jerry was utterly confused. He had been playing at the top of his game all season and nobody said a word, and now that he has one bad game, the fans ridicule him. He started noticing that the only attention he would ever get would come with negativity.
