“You can’t trust me because I can’t trust you!” I said,
my voice shaking,
like a balloon about to be popped.
I couldn’t tell
what was real anymore,
what words were covers,
and which were really meant for me.
I was mad,
that she lied
I was grieved,
that she left.
Our laughter,
our moments,
now just echoes in a storm.
Then she said,
“I’m sorry, but my feelings for you have died.”
The words felt heavy,
Pelting my heart like meteors striking from the sky.
Should I rage?
Or should I shout out her name in the rain and call her mad?
But that little fragile gate we built from our love,
stopped me from destroying what was left to remember.
“Really?” I could not believe it,
“Since when?” I tried to connect the dots.
Her answer was cold,
“I have been feeling it.”
Yesterday,
we were laughing.
Today,
I am drowning.
Every smile, every kiss,
now can only be seen in my dream.
A dream that I beg to return to,
a dream where I was never broken.

You did really well with capturing emotions in this. This is also really good, especially for your first poem!

This is the first time I read a poem in the Street Snippets, and I think you construct the poem very well, with using receptions and alliterations. The poem is also sentimental, and could actually let the reader feel how heart broken the author is after breaking up with his girlfriend.
