“Go ahead and just walk normally, you can just walk like a normal person.”

“I’m telling you it’s fine, I’ll stay clear of the greens man, come on Tim”

“Not gonna happen Phil, it’s too early”

“Whatever, let me get 100 balls”

“Not the usual 50?”

“Didn’t hit the sims all winter”

“Makes sense… there ya go Phil, please please tread lightly”

Phil dragged himself to the range, pushed his coin into the machine, set up his bucket and out flowed 100 golf balls. He walked through the muddy ground out to the center spot and began launching balls out into the mist with his 60 degree wedge.

Phil was an avid golfer that had unfortunately hurt his back while snowboarding over the winter and was now in a predicament. He didn’t think his back would hold up for a full round of golf while walking the course, however the owner of the course “Tim” refused to let him take a cart as it was too early and the ground was too soft.

As Phil continued to launch balls he began to think about his problem. He knew Tim loved to go downstairs and to his restaurant and talk to his coworkers. Phil just so happened to be friends with some of these coworkers. He texted his friend Silas who was working the counter downstairs and asked him to let him know when Tim was distracted downstairs. He continued hitting balls out into the early morning sun until he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. Silas confirmed Tim was distracted and Phil made a dash to the carts. He threw his clubs into the passenger seat, disengaged the parking brake and took off up into the woods of the first hole. He played the first hole no problem scoring a nice easy par to start off his golf season.

As he made his way to the second hole he noticed a puddle and slowed down so as to not soak himself, however as his wheel rode through the puddle he felt as his cart’s left rear tire sank down into the mud. The wheels began to spin as the cart sank deeper and deeper, spraying Phil in an unfortunate shower of mud. It was at this moment that Phil began to hear the familiar sound of a golf cart coming not from his but from the woods behind him. Fearing the worst he jumped out and desperately began to push the cart attempting to free it from the mud. However in this scramble to free the cart he tweaked his back and keeled over in pain.

Tim came up over the hill to witness Phil lying down in a puddle of mud right behind the stolen golf cart. He had noticed the missing cart and came to investigate. He pulled up next to Phil leaned into his cart, took the key out of the ignition and drove off, leaving Phil swimming in mud and in pain with no cart and no self esteem.
