“Maybe there was a little blip of a heartbeat? Doctor?” Asked the rescue captain.
“No. Sadly, I think she is dead.” said the doctor who shook his head slightly.
“So does that mean, all four of the survivors are dead?”
“Yes, unfortunately.” The doctor nodded.
“Good.”
“What do you mean by ‘good’?! There’s no survivors in the crash now!”
“You will see, now, I don’t want a single word of this event to be known by the public.”
The doctor sighed and nodded, seemingly understanding, he turned back and headed toward that temporary helipad not far from the crash site.
“It’s still raining.” A rescue team member glanced at the window from this gym.
“Heavy?”
“Kind of?” that team member replied.
“See, since the rain is still heavy, the trails are muddy, the sun has already gone down, it’s too dangerous for us to continue going in the dark. We are going to stay here overnight since it will be safer for us to go up into the mountains tomorrow.”
“Overnight! Are you crazy? What about if there are survivors?!”
“Survivors? No, doctor, not in that kind of crash.”
“How do you know?”
“A helicopter had flown over that mountain a few hours ago. Shall I say, it was the worst air crash site that I have ever seen in my entire career of 36 years.”
“Why don’t they send a person down to check for survivors.”
“While the air force didn’t think it was necessary, as I have said, there are no survivors, so they just let the helicopter fly away and continue their mission.”
“But,” the doctor opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to argue.
“That’s enough, there is no more ‘but’, and you are not going anywhere in this weather. We are staying overnight, and nobody is leaving this gym without my permission.”
The doctor still wanted to argue, after hearing the snoring sound that became louder and louder, gave up with a sense of reluctance and unwillingness, he knew that he could do nothing in this situation.
The sun had started to go down and the debris was still burning.
“It’s getting colder and colder.” said one of the survivors who could hardly move, sitting around a burning wood trunk which seemed to be ignited by one of the wreckage separated from the plane.
“I don’t think I can survive if the night falls.” said another passenger with his head bleeding.
“Mummy, look, there is a helicopter over there.” said a little girl pointing at the sky.
With a sense of hope, people started to wave at the helicopter, a person even grabbed a burning branch in order to attract the attention of the helicopter.
“The base doesn’t let us get any closer to the crash site, they said they will send people here later.” said the captain to the crew.
With a camera in his hand, one of the soldiers quickly pressed the shutter.
Flash, the smoke almost engulfed the sky above the crash site, with several scattered dots shining.
“Maybe they were right, there won’t be survivors in this kind of crash.” a crew sighed.
With the sound of the helicopter becoming fainter and fainter till no one could hear, the night has also finally fallen down, the last sense of hope of them surviving was brutally crushed.
Right after the helicopter carrying the doctor lifted off, another helicopter quickly landed on the helipad, and a few people, looked like journalists and reporters, hopped off and ran towards the crash site.
“……the deadly crash of this airliner into the mountains has now caused 217 casualties, and another 4 people still missing, though their chance of survival is still low. Let’s now interview the captain of the rescue team…. ‘Uh, I have to say this is a serious incident, and our team had been doing our best in searching and rescuing, we have been overcoming the weather, but unfortunately, the missing people have been confirmed to be …..’”
“Click” the doctor turned off the radio, no longer wanting to listen to his words. Not far from them, the subtle light of the city could be hazily seen. Just then, a firework lifted off into the night sky, exploded into a beautiful pattern that lit the sky.

I feel as if the rain is a intrinsic symbol for odious hatred within…
