I know you’re there.

Maybe there was a little blip of a heartbeat.
Or maybe it was just my own consciousness awaking.
Maybe it was a dream that you were still here.
I can still hear the jokes and the keys on the piano.
I lie awake, wondering what invoked it.

Talking to myself, staring at the stars, I look foolish.
But I know you’re here.

I know you’re listening and showing me a presence.
The fields, the sunset, the little visions of you in the world.
I can feel you here, by our sides, as if you never left.
Days, Weeks and Months will go by.
Maybe you thought it was best.

Walking the stage, staring at the stars, I. Look. Foolish.
But I know you’re here.

Photos on the wall, in my storage and on social media.
Remembrance and Embracement.

The talent and smarts, flowing through the air–
Lives move, the world turns, some forget, I don’t.
The grass grows sluggish and the sun gets dimmer.

Everyone knows your gone–
But I know you’re here.
